The Pros and Cons of Automatic Blood Pressure Monitors

If you have a history of high or low blood pressure, your doctor may recommend that you monitor your blood pressure at home and keep a record of it.  There are many automatic blood pressure monitors on the market today.  As opposed to the aneroid monitors, they are very durable, and easy to read.  You can get them with cuffs that inflate and deflate automatically , or get ones that you pump up manually.  When taking your blood pressure, it is necessary to stay as still as possible.  If you have arrhythmia, you may want to use another type of device, or go to the hospital.  Otherwise, you may not get an accurate reading.  You will also want to make sure to keep fresh batteries for it at all times.  It is also necessary to make sure you get one that can be used on either arm.
