The Amazon kindle reader is a truly amazing product. I don’t think that it’s possible to overstate its importance. It’s not just the market leader as far as e-book readers are concerned - it has created, shaped and defined a market which, to all intents and purposes, simply wasn’t there before the Kindle came along. Amazon had already changed the way that many people bought books when they launched their site back in 1995. Now they are changing the way that books are read and published. Although it will, as a piece of hardware, very shortly become out of date, the Kindle 2.0 and, to a slightly lesser extent the DX, will probably be remembered as the devices which made the biggest change to the world’s reading habits in centuries.
