You have a place to rent, so you put an ad in the local paper. What do you know about the people that will respond to your ad? Have you considered doing a tenant background screening before you rent to just anyone? Always ask for references, get work related and personal references. Take the time to make the calls and confirm the person is employed and responsible. They need to have a job in order to pay the rent and pay it on time. There are great tools online too, do a little research, you’d be surprised at what you can find on the Internet.
