Generally, when someone mentions video game testing, the major aspect they are referring to is functionality. In this testing, the game has to be played by the tester. A function tester will look for certain problems in the game such as whether or how often it will crash. They are interested in whether the game is sound or easily corruptible. They want to know about the mechanics of the game. They check or examine to see if the buttons work properly and if the right things happen at the right time.
