What is a Biometric Reader?
The latest technology in the security industry involves biometrics and the use of biometric readers. Biometrics is the technology that measures and analyzes human body characteristics for identification purposes. There are three key components in biometric security systems. One is the biometric reader that gathers, or scans, the body part used for identification. The software for the system converts the information gathered by the reader and converts it into a digital format. Then the information is stored in a database. Once the information is stored then access to the stored goods can only be had by those that match the stored data. The technology of biometric readers has been in use in the commercial sector for quite some time, but is now becoming more popular in the home security industry.
