The strength of the Euro currency
One of the contributing factors to the decline of the US currency in recent years has been the introduction of the Euro. The strong Euro currency exchange rate has prompted many countries to diversify its currency reserves out of the US dollar and into the Euro. Many oil producing countries have also entertained the idea of switching the price of oil from the US dollar to the Euro. This is a development that we may hear more about in the years to come.
